Always roasting bold and original flavor

The Roast

Ethiopian goatherd, Kaldi, noticed that after his herd ate bright red berries growing from a tree, the goats could not sleep. He took the berries to a local monastery where a priest crushed and then soaked them in hot water. After drinking the mixture, the priest was alert and awake during his evening prayers.

And coffee was born.

Coffee has a rich history in Ethiopia and Jeff Smith learned that and more during a special trip to Addis Ababa to adopt his daughter.

At Iron Skillet Coffee, our beans are roasted the way coffee has been roasted over the ages, in a cast iron skillet over a steady open flame. Small batch roasting allow us to hand craft each bag of beans, creating a balanced cup of coffee, full of flavor and with bright acidity mixed with velvety body.

Our coffee is roasted weekly and by order to offer the freshest cup of coffee available. Order a bag today and taste the Iron Skillet difference.

“Best cup of coffee I’ve ever had.” - Dan S.

“I was visiting Berlin and came across you roasting some coffee in cast iron over a camp stove. I bought a bag of some Ethiopian you had just roasted. I used it in my Flair manual espresso press and it was outstanding! I have tried espresso roasts from other roasters all over and they do not compare.” - David B.

“You guys roast a mean bean that tastes absolutely delicious!” - Patrick D.
